The Sunken Ship-Passages
Jurby Beach, Sartfield Road, The Cronk
Visible only at low tide and still a bit tricky to find.
Start at Ballaugh beach and walk North. You will pass the mooring stones for the weather balloons that doted the coast during the Second World War. Continue walking up the beach and you should find it. The tide quickly turns so be careful that you don’t get cut off.
The Passages was a fishing boat that had been fishing off the coast of Ireland for herring when it ran aground on Jurby Beach during a storm in 1931.
