The Gaiety Theatre and Opera House

The Gaiety Theatre is simply a tiny, beautiful, little jewel of a theatre. Exuding history and tradition. The theatre is one of the finest and most complete examples of work, by the master theatre architect, Frank Matcham. First opened in 1900, the Gaiety underwent extensive restoration from 1976, under the direction of Victor Glasstone and later, by Mervin Stokes MBE, to return it to its current, magnificent condition.

One of my paintings, hangs in the main Cafe Foyer, depicting “Commedia Dell’ Arte”, the travelling form of theatre, which started in the 15th centaury.

Tours of the theatre are available during the summer months or by arrangement.
