Spanish Head

There are two schools of thought regarding the naming of Spanish head. The first is that it comes from the Manx descriptions of the rock. The second, more romantic notion is that shipwrecked sailors from the Spanish Armada were cast onto the Island here. In the 1070s a Marine Scientist from Liverpool did find a sword dating to the time of the Armada buried in the sand at Spanish Head.
