King Orry’s Grave

King Godred Crovan, conquered the Isle of Man in 1079 at the Battle of Skyhill creating the Kingdom of Mann, later the Kingdom of Soda and Man which his decedents were to rule until 1264. He is believed to be responsible for creating Tynwald based on a similar system existing in Iceland where he was born. He divided the Isle of Man into two leaving the indigenous Manx the north of the Island while claiming the south for himself and his followers. The Manx called him King Orry.

The grave consists of two prehistoric chambers and a third tomb a short distance away.
