Henry Madoc’s Memorial

If you are visiting Langness and wondering why there is a bird bath like structure enclosed by iron fencing, close to a ruined farmhouse, it is because, this is the memorial to Henry Madoc, a keen ornithologist.

Henry William Madoc, served in the Boer War, became Chief Constable of the Island in 1911 and went on to become Commandant of the Prisoners of War Camp at Douglas.
