Calvary Glen
St Anthony's , Ridgeway Road, Onchan , IM3 1HT
The original Calvery Glen led up the steep sides of Summerhill behind Summerland leading to Onchan Park and the Lourdes Grotto. Created by Father McGrath in the early 1960s this was illuminated and could be seen across Douglas Bay. The winding path was boarded by a small stream and a series of tiny waterfalls.
The Stations of the Cross are cast iron, which were painted to look like stone but are now painted white. The current Calvary Glen is a much simpler patch of green grass with the statues placed around it and the Lourdes Grotto behind.
